PURPLE hat drive donations!

Just 1 day after posting a blog about participating in the PURPLE hat drive to raise awareness for shaken baby syndrome, I've recieved a great amount of response from friends, family, and fans!

Today, I recieved my first donation, as well as promises of donations of hats and yarn from friends and family!

I will use this blog post and update it periodically throughout the drive to show how much money, yarn, and hats have been collected and will translate it into the total amount of hats that will be donated (once they're all done-will be on a future blog post).

Click for Babies PURPLE Hat Drive

I came across a business that was helping to contribute to the Click for babies hat drive. I thought this would be a great opportunity to give to a charity cause.

Click for babies is the national center on shaken baby syndrome. They are collecting crocheted and knitted caps in preemie to newborn size to distribute to families of newborns in participating areas to raise awareness about shaken baby syndrome.

I will be taking donations of purple yarn, hats (must be at LEAST 50% purple, guidelines can be found here), as well as yarn & monetary donations via Paypal.

Just think-1 skein of yarn costs approximately $3.25, and I can make between 3 to 5 basic preemie/newborn hats per skein! If 10 people donate $5, that's $50 towards yarn. That translates to approximately 15 (ok, 15.3846.....) skeins. That's at LEAST 45 hats!


How to help


Monetary donations
If you would like to donate to the hat drive, monetary donations can be sent via Paypal only. Please choose the "gift" option, and include the note "purple hat drive" before submitting. (If you do not choose the "gift" option, Paypal will take a deduction from the transaction, resulting in less money towards the drive, but some of your money going to Paypal.)

June Giveaway!

It's hard to believe it's already June! Spring has flown by, school is out for the summer and I am busy (as I'm sure most of you are as well) enjoying the weather with my family! We're in the middle of two big projects-a play set & a deck. So on the nice days, I'm outside working, and at night as well as on not-so-nice days, I'm inside working on orders! Orders have slowed down dramatically as the weather turns warmer, but I am still working on more items- I have a handful of orders to finish up, as well as samples that I am sending out to two photographers (RPPhotography, and Restless Wings Photography), to be photographed for my shop. (NEW LISTINGS!!! :-D

Once those are done, I will be making some more hair bows! This month, I'm going to be hosting another giveaway, however it will be a little different this time around. The giveaway item is for my ***sample*** crocheted baby cocoon/photography prop. This is the sample product, which means it's actually the one pictured, however it was only used once (for the photographs).
